Pret to reopen 70 more stores for takeaway and delivery

• It follows the recent reopening of 30 Pret outlets in London

• The chain has introduced safety measures including Perspex screens at tills

• Delivery drivers and customers will have separare entrances where possible

Pret a Manger is opening a further 70 stores across the country for takeaway and delivery on 11 May.

Stores are set to reopen in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester.

It follows the recent reopening of 30 of the high street sandwich chain’s outlets in London.

The shops will offer a limited menu of Pret’s most popular sandwiches and salads along with a new ‘Heat Me At Home’ macaroni cheese range.

Essential items such as tea bags, coffee and salad will also be available.

Delivery will be available through Deliveroo, Just Eat and UberEats, dependent on location. Stores will operate with reduced opening hours.

Pret a Manger has warned that the experience for its customers and team members will be “very different” with the introduction of safety measures in line with government social distancing guidelines.

Protective Perspex screens have been fitted to the till counters and there are separate entrances for delivery drivers and customers where possible.

A limit will be placed on the number of customers allowed into a store at any one time and enhanced cleaning practises are to take place every 30 minutes.

“We’ve learned a huge amount in the past few weeks while getting used to the new safety and social distancing measures we’ve put in place,” said Pret CEO Pano Christou in a message to customers. “It’s been fantastic to see so many of you respecting the changes we’ve made, and we’re extremely grateful for your ongoing support.

“We’ve also had a great response from those ordering through our delivery partners, enjoying their Pret favourites again from home. This has given us the confidence to reopen a further 70 shops.”
