UK grower and packer Produce World has purchased fruit importer British and Brazilian Produce Company.
The deal will increase Produce World’s annual turnover from £100m to £130m, said chief executive William Burgess.
Produce World is a major supplier of potatoes, onions, carrots and parsnips to Waitrose through a chain of packhouses in East Anglia, and has recently developed a prepared vegetable business.
B&B, also a Waitrose supplier, specialises in stone fruit, melons and grapes, and has been using Produce World’s packing and cold store facilities at Frupac, Yaxley, for the past two years.
