Produce World Group (PWG) has formed a growing partnership with Lincolnshire Field Products (LFP) to produce brassicas for the 2015 harvest.
The two companies are hoping to improve efficiency by working together at farms in the East Midlands to grow cabbage, sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower.
PWG supplies vegetables to Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and independent retailers, and organic vegetables to Tesco. It grows potatoes and onions through farming division Burgess Farms, and works in partnership with growers Taylor Grown, Tompsett Burgess Growers and Greenshoots.
PWG procurement director Jon Campbell said the company had ambitious plans for the next five years, and was “delighted to add LFP’s experience and expertise to that of our other key growers”.
“LFP are at the cutting-edge of agronomy in this sector,” he added. “Their considerable experience and expertise enables them to deliver the brassica crop in an accurate and timely manner.”
LFP commercial director Martin Tate commented: “We feel that there are considerable synergies between our two organisations, particularly as Produce World is a company with farming at its heart.”
