Produce World has installed a new carrot grading machine at its Yaxley plant to replace manual grading.
The machine - made by Newtec - takes 40 photos of each carrot and analyses length, shape and colour as well as any defects. It can grade about 80,000 carrots an hour. Produce World said the machine would make its grading process more efficient, and offset increases in labour, raw material and energy costs.
