Former Waitrose head of sustainability Quentin Clark has joined the sustainable farming group Leaf in a new role as director of business collaboration.
Leaf (Linking Environment And Farming) said the position had been created as part of its growth strategy as it celebrated its 25th anniversary year.
“We are absolutely delighted that Quentin has joined our growing team,” said chief executive Caroline Drummond.
“Quentin’s vast knowledge of the sustainability sector as well as his wide-ranging commercial experience will be invaluable as we embark on an ambitious five-year strategy to meet the growing need for our services and continue to build on the potential of the organisation,” said chief executive Caroline Drummond. Clark’s role will be to plan and lead a business collaboration strategy to work with third parties to place sustainable food and farming high on their agenda.
During a 29-year career at Waitrose, he was head of commercial buying for produce and poultry, fish and eggs and, for the past six years, led the engagement policy for its sustainability and ethical sourcing agenda.
“Leaf has such an important role to play in promoting the values of sustainable farming to the general public, helping farmers maximise resources and deliver more sustainable food and farming across the supply chain,” he said. “The next 25 years are full of potential.”
As part of its growth strategy, Leaf has also announced the promotion of key players within its technical team. Kathryn Mitchell becomes sustainability manager, a new role in the integration of Leaf Marque into its core work; Anthony Goggin adds certification and assurance manager to his responsibilities to develop the Leaf Marque; and Alice Midmer becomes Leaf’s integrated farm management manager.
