Premier Foods plans to turn Quorn into a £200m brand - doubling its value. Chief executive Robert Schofield made the bullish prediction in an exclusive interview with The Grocer.
The company has bought a £4m facility in Methwold, Norfolk to help it achieve its goal. The facility, on which it plans to spend more than £10m kitting out, will come on stream next year.
The news comes as the business issued its latest trading statement showing that sales growth was being driven very much by its big brands such as Quorn, Branston, Loyd Grossman and Ambrosia. Quorn enjoyed double-digit sales growth in the first half of the year, thanks to increased advertising and product launches.
However the growth of Branston and Loyd Grossman was offset by lower sales of smaller brands and own label convenience foods.
