Morrisons has been forced to pull the plug on M Fest due to the recent heavy rain in the north of England.
The supermarket said it had called off the event, scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday, after talks with Leeds City Council.
“It is with our deepest regret that due to the adverse weather conditions leading up to this event, in conjunction with the extreme weather warning issued by the Met Office for the weekend, we were left with no other decision than to abandon this weekend’s M Fest,” it said.
“The public’s health and safety is of paramount concern, therefore it would be irresponsible to continue – however disappointed we all are.
“This was a joint decision made between the promoter, the production team, health and safety and Harewood House.”
Morrisons said it would announce information on refunds on Monday (9 July).
Billed as “A feast of British music and food”, the event was to feature bands including Texas, The Human League, the Levellers and Inspiral Carpets.
