Rapid grocer Getir is partnering with Just Eat across Europe to list its entire product range on the platform, with deliveries from its dark stores made by Getir couriers.

The roll out begins in Germany next week, with around 2,000 items ready for customers to buy through Just Eat’s Lieferando app and website from all Getir stores.

The partnership will be rolled out to other European markets including the UK, Spain, Italy and France in the coming weeks.

“As the pioneer of ultrafast grocery delivery, we have found a strong partner in Just Eat Takeaway.com with their excellent market positioning in Europe,” said Turancan Salur, Getir regional general manager.

“The cooperation of two strong international brands is an absolute win-win situation for both: Just Eat Takeaway.com customers can choose from a wider range of grocery and convenience products. At the same time, Getir will benefit from accessing the large consumer base and continue to grow across Europe,” Salur added.

The announcement follows a similar move by Getir’s rival Gopuff, which yesterday announced it had struck a deal with Uber Eats in the UK, that will allow customers to use the food courier platform as a shopfront for the quick-commerce player’s curated range of alcohol, snacks and groceries. Gopuff has been working with Uber Eats in the US since May.

“Just Eat Takeaway.com’s grocery offer is going from strength to strength and this exciting new partnership signifies our commitment to only expand this further,” said Andrew Kenny, interim COO at Just Eat Takeaway.com.

“Being one of Europe’s most known food delivery marketplaces, our customers can access everything from delicious meals from their local takeaway or favourite restaurant brand, to stocking up on store cupboard essentials and fresh groceries. We’re delighted to be working with Getir to bring even more choice and convenience to our customers across Europe,” Kenny added.

Late last month Getir revealed it had secured a deal with Nisa Retail to stock a range of about 300 Co-op own-label products. The new range is being piloted at six of Getir’s dark stores, with plans to expand to additional locations in the coming months.

The 300 lines from Nisa – the wholesale division of the Co-op Group – cover ambient and fresh, including ready meals, fresh meats, and fruit & veg. It is the first time Getir has offered own-label, non-brand products.
