Devon-based wholesaler RD Johns has bought a new depot in Hampshire.
The 36,893 sq ft site in Andover will add to the foodservice specialist’s existing depots, two in Newton Abbott and one in Midsomer Norton, Somerset.
The wholesaler’s fourth depot will undergo extensive refurbishment to add a new freezer, chiller, racking, and new offices. It will stock the same categories as the other three sites: chilled, frozen, ambient and Non-food.
The Unitas member has recently carried out a £2m refurbishment of its Newton Abbot depot to expand its in-house butchery department, the core category the business started with over 50 years ago.
“We are pleased to announce the purchase of a new depot in Andover, Hampshire,” the wholesaler announced on a LinkedIn post.
“This strategic expansion will enable us to continue our growth across the Home Counties and the south east.”
The wholesaler is expecting the Andover depot to be fully operational by January 2026.
