New Zealand Milk is introducing alcohol into its chilled aerosol cream for the first time with the launch of Anchor Tia Maria Chocolate Cream.
This is the fruit of a joint venture with Thomas Lowndes which is the licensing agent for the Tia Maria brand and is said to be the first time a real liqueur has been used in a product of this nature.
Anchor Tia Maria Chocolate Cream is a limited edition and its availability from October 1 aims to deseasonalise the category and drive sales of aerosol cream at a non peak time of year. It is aimed at desserts around the Halloween period, winter dinner parties as well as the core Christmas period.
The October launch is backed by in store sampling, PoS and PR, which is additional to Anchor Cream's Christmas activity. NZ Milk has already brought out two limited edition variants this year: Anchor Swirls Chocolate Cream and Anchor Swirls Strawberry Cream.
Jaspal Chada, marketing controller for NZ Milk, said: "We know new products help to encourage new customers and repeat purchases in the chilled aerosol cream category [currently worth £16.5m]. This launch will help shake up the category and assist retailers' profit margins."
Anchor Tia Maria Chocolate Cream will be available in multiples and independents with a new look can that carries branding for both Anchor and Tia Maria.Rsp: £2.19 for a 250g can.
