The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co has branched into desserts with the launch of two crumble-inspired ‘puds’.
Its toffee apple crumble and rhubarb & ginger crumble Yorkshire puddings went on sale in Asda today (rsp: £1.50).
Aiming to expand on the appeal of the Yorkshires beyond the Sunday roast, the company has launched the sweet puds into the chilled aisle alongside other chilled desserts.
The pair add to the brand’s range of Yorkshires and Yorkshire pudding-based ready meals.
Asda said the puds were “unlike anything seen in the chilled desserts fixture before”, with the two Yorkshire-based businesses having collaborated to ensure the products launched ahead of Yorkshire day on 1 August.
“Over the years, Yorkshires have been eaten as starters and desserts and this is a great way for us to put a modern twist on a British classic,” said MD of The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co Charles Payne.
“We are focused on leading innovation within the category and expanding the meal occasions in which Yorkshire puddings are eaten.”
