A little known variety of pigmented Navel orange has gone on sale in Marks and Spencer.
The orange, called Cara Cara, is being sold in pre-packs of five fruit for £2.49.
The red fleshed variety was first discovered in Venezuela some 30 years ago, and is believed to be a mutation of the popular Washington Navel.
It is now being commercially grown in the US where M&S procured its programmes, and is also being developed in South Africa.
