Health-conscious consumers can now enjoy a wine with 41% more antioxidants than usual.

The Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon wine is the second to be launched under the Red Heart brand, which entered the market just over a year ago with an Australian Cabernet Petit-Verdot.

Antioxidants found in red wine are thought to be beneficial to health when drunk in moderation. Both wines are made in a way that ensures they pick up as many antioxidants as possible, said brand-owner Buckingham Vintners.

The new Chilean wine has a 41% higher than average level of antioxidants and the Australian had 32%, it claimed.

"Since the 1980s there has been an increase in consumer awareness of the benefits of eating and drinking healthily and the role red wine can play in a healthy diet," said marketing manager Jon Pepper.

Red Heart Chile will initially be stocked in Morrisons, priced at £4.99.
