The NPD is available in 90g and 176g pouches, plus a 68g PMP

Reese’s has added “sweet and salty” chocolate- and peanut butter-dipped peanuts.

The NPD combines peanuts dipped in peanut butter and peanuts dipped in chocolate.

A 90g pack (rsp: £1.85) is already in Tesco and a 176g pack (rsp: £3.65) will hit Lidl at the end of March. Both formats will roll out more widely in the coming weeks. A 68g PMP (£1.35) is available to convenience retailers.

The NPD tapped a “growing demand for shareable, on-the-go treats, particularly among Gen Z and millennial snackers”, said Reese’s.

It marked “an exciting milestone for us as we continue to bring bold, delicious innovations to the UK market,” said Jackson Hitchon, EMEA GM of Reese’s owner The Hershey Company.

“By combining our iconic peanut butter and chocolate flavouring with crunchy peanuts, we’re offering a fun way for consumers to enjoy the sweet and salty flavours they love,” Hitchon added.

It comes after Reese launched an Advent calendar, along with a selection of festive-themed treats, such as Peanut Butter Trees, into UK grocery ahead of Christmas.

Startup Superfoodio launched its own take on Reese’s famous peanut butter cups, Better Cups, in December.

The innovation, available in Original, No Added Sugar and PB & Jelly variants (rsp: £1.80/30g) have a creamy peanut butter filling encased in a peanut butter shell, instead of chocolate.
