Re:Nourish has added a duo of chicken soups to “broaden its appeal”.
Recover: Classic Roast Chicken and Thrive: Chicken & Vegetable (rsp: £3.10/500g) will roll into Morrisons, Ocado and Whole Foods Market on 1 February, packaged in the brand’s unique heat-in-bottle format.
They feature black labels to differentiate them from the existing plant-based range, with protein and fibre callouts on pack.
Both soups will be included as mains in Morrisons’ £4 lunchtime meal deal promotion.
The move is tipped to help Re:Nourish “broaden its appeal while staying true to its mission of delivering healthy, convenient meals”.
“We get asked every day to launch a chicken soup,” said Re:Nourish founder Nicci Clark.
“This has been over eight months in the making, and it’s all about delivering taste and health.
”These soups are packed with protein and fibre… and we’ve embraced bold black labels to differentiate them from our plant-based range.”
Value sales of Re:Nourish soups rocketed by 31.9% to £3.5m on volumes up 24.1% in the year to 7 September 2024, as reported in The Grocer’s Top Products Survey [NIQ].
Across the category, chilled soup fared better than ambient, with volumes dipping just 0.2% compared with ambient soup’s 5.4% decline.
This was explained by shoppers becoming “increasingly health-conscious and looking for minimally processed foods”, said Vignesh Shanmuganathan, NIQ senior analytical executive.
When it came to soup, chilled options fitted these requirements, Shanmuganathan explained.
