Ridgeview CEO Tamara Roberts has joined the board of the Wine & Spirit Trade Association.
Roberts, who took over as chief of the Sussex winemaker in 2014, said she would bring her “passion for the English wine industry” to the WSTA board and help promote “a unified approach” to Brexit.
“I believe it is extremely important to pull together as an industry to maximise our trade’s potential, particularly at a time when Brexit throws up so many challenges and hopefully opportunities,” she said.
Her appointment brings the WSTA’s executive team, which is chaired by Berry Bros & Rudd CEO Dan Jago, to 13. It includes Conviviality CEO Diana Hunter, Pernod Ricard UK MD Laurent Pillet, and Waitrose head of BWS buying Pierpaolo Petrassi,
“Roberts’ contribution will be extremely important to the executive team as we steer UK wine and spirit businesses through uncharted waters post Brexit and into new trading landscapes,” said Jago.
Some £3m in value was added to the English wine category last year, putting growth back on track after a 16.1% drop in value in 2015 [Nielsen 52 w/e 31 December 2016].
