The Advertising Standards Authority is investigating a number of complaints over a risqué television commercial for Orangina that features animated animals in bikinis dancing provocatively.
The ASA has received around 150 complaints since the advert was first screened at the beginning of the month and will now decide whether to take action.
The company behind the advert has said that it is based on the concept of "pulpeuse", which means both "voluptuous" or "sexy" and "containing pulp" in French.
Children’s charity Kidscape has criticised the advert as being potentially confusing for youngsters, despite being shown only after the watershed.
“It is another example of overtly sexual images being used to promote products at children and our main concern is the sexualisation of children,” Kidscape director Claude Knights is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
Orangina is owned by Dr Pepper Snapple Group, which de-merged from Cadbury Schweppes earlier this year.
