Squash brand Robinsons has confirmed it has been hit by a shortage of pineapple juice – leaving retailers struggling to get hold of one of its core squash lines.
A spokeswoman for the brand’s owner Britvic told The Grocer this week of the issue, which was impacting production of Robinsons Orange & Pineapple squash.
“Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing a shortage of pineapple juice, which has had a limited impact on the production of our Robinsons Orange & Pineapple squash,” she said.
“We continue to keep our retail customers updated on the situation, which we’re hoping will be rectified soon.”
News of the issue comes just one week after Britvic vowed to return its core Orange Tango to Tesco, the fizzy orange staple having been absent from the retailer’s shelves for weeks.
Tango “recently encountered a supply issue impacting the production of Tango Orange” which had “now been rectified” with no further issues anticipated, Britvic said last week.
At the time of writing, two-litre bottles of Tango Orange were indeed available on Tesco’s website.
