Brand owner and distributor Barrel Booze is launching a range of Belgian lagers for independent retailers in time for Christmas.
The new Luxus range is designed to complement its Primus range to give it a full portfolio of Belgian lagers. It is produced by the independent Belgium brewery, Haacht.
Luxus will initially be sold in 500ml cans through the off-trade and will be available in three formats. Luxus 4.2% abv (rsp: £5.00 for 8 cans), Luxus 8.5% abv Super Quality Strong Lager (rsp: £1.20) and Luxus 6.5% abv Luxury Grand Cru (rsp: 99p).
Barrel Booze’s director of sales and marketing, Imran Younus, said: “Independents have been priced out of the market recently but our model has shown they can compete by stocking different brands that are just as good. Increasing polarisation may mean that in the near future, independents may stock completely different brands from supermarkets.”
