Rontec has appointed Giles Taylor as managing director following the retirement of Bill Ahearn.
Taylor, who started with Rontec as a sales assistant over 25 years ago, has been promoted from his current role as operations director.
Ahearn is retiring after more than 40 years with the group and will remain on the board as a non-executive director.
Under the new structure, effective from November, Nick Lowe will become director of operations, Tracy Moloney director of finance and Tom Cookson director of fuels and IT. Gerald Ronson CBE remains chairman and chief executive, Ian Pogue group finance director and Richard Benson property director.
“I have worked with Bill for more than 40 of my 50 years in roadside retail and am grateful to him for his hard work, proud of the business we have built together and pleased that he will remain on the board as a non-executive director,” said Ronson.
“Having been with the business in its various forms for more than 25 years and in a variety of roles, Giles knows Rontec inside out, and the board and I look forward to continuing to work with him as he steps into his new role.”
