Arla Foods has been rapped by advertising watchdogs for claiming its Rosenborg Danish Blue cheese is Britain's favourite blue cheese brand'.
The Advertising Standards Authority upheld a complaint from the Stilton Cheese Makers Association that the magazine ad statement was "misleading". It agreed consumers would interpret the ad as meaning Rosenborg outsold Blue Stilton, which is not the case.
It also upheld an objection to the arrangement of the cheeses in a Union Flag formation, agreeing this wrongly implied that the Danish cheese was produced in the UK.
