Following an RSPCA campaign on duck welfare, Tesco has decided to stock Freedom Food-approved duck for the first time next year.
The retailer is adding a whole duck to its line-up of fresh poultry products, reared to the RSPCA scheme’s higher welfare standards. A launch date and rsp have yet to be announced.
The RSPCA said Tesco’s decision to stock Freedom Food duck had been prompted by its campaign calling for farmed ducks to be given access to bathing water.
“Following a review of our product range, we will be offering our customers duck reared to RSPCA Freedom Food standards in 2013,” a spokesman for Tesco said.
