SABMiller’s board of directors has confirmed deputy chairman John Manser as acting chairman during Graham Mackay’s absence on medical leave. However it said it will keep the situation under review during Mackay’s treatment and convalescence.
“An appropriate announcement about the future will be made as soon as any definitive decisions have been taken,” a company statement said.
Yesterday Manser stepped down from his role as chairman of the audit committee, a year earlier than anticipated, and is retiring from both the audit and remuneration committee as a result of his new role. Mark Armour has been appointed to replace him.
Mackay was treated for a treated for a brain tumour in April.
