Continental cheese supplier Futura Foods is expanding its Yamas! Greek and Cypriot cheese range with Saganaki - a sheep’s cheese that will be marketed as an alternative to Halloumi.
The cheese (rsp: £2.50 for 150g) will go on sale in Morrisons on 24 September.
According to Futura, Saganaki is one of Greece’s most popular cheeses. It has a high melting point, making it suitable for cooking, and is typically eaten as an appetiser in Greece.
Yamas! marketing manager Rhian Kinman said consumers who already had a taste for Halloumi would “love” Saganaki. “It’s a delicious, savoury cheese and tastes absolutely fantastic cooked.”
