Sainsbury has scrapped its marketing director position following the resignation of Stephen Nelson earlier this month, with the majority of marketing responsibilities passing to Gwyn Burr. Burr, formerly customer services director, takes on the newly created role of customer director.
She will have five additional senior managers reporting to her, including director of brand communications Helen Buck, director of store brand and events Louise English, head of customer insights and segmentation Jeremy Garlick, director of communications Pip Wood and head of CSR and public affairs Erica Zimmer.
Trading director Mike Coupe will take responsibility for director of own brand Judith Batchelar and head of commercial planning Dave Ellis. Head of Sainsbury online Toby Anderson will now report to retail director Ken McMeikan.
Burr joined Sainsbury as a part-time consultant last August.
The changes take effect from June 6, when Nelson leaves to become retail director for BAA.
