Sainsbury’s has added a cheese egg to its Easter lineup for this year.
The supermarket introduced the product from Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses, as Asda did last year, for customers looking for something different to celebrate Easter.
The Cheesalicious Easter Egg (rsp: £5) is suitable for vegetarians and made with blue and soft cheese. It is spreadable and accompanied with mini oatcakes and a sachet of caramelised onion chutney.
“We’re always looking for new and unique products to offer to our customers, especially during gifting periods throughout the year when people are on the lookout for something special to give their loved ones,” said Sainsbury’s cheese buyer Emma Garvey. “The Cheesalicious Easter Egg seemed like an obvious and exciting choice to expand our Easter offering and cater to cheese aficionados nationwide. The egg is truly delicious and we can’t wait to see the response from our customers.”

Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses commercial manager James Clapham added: “It’s something a bit light-hearted, and we hope it will encourage more people to try blue cheese. Customers can press the cheese out onto a cheeseboard and have it as a centrepiece, spread it on an oatcake with a bit of chutney, melt it in a pan and dip crusty bread into it like fondue, or melt it on hot cross buns for a real Easter treat.”
