Sainsbury's has introduced 'UK-grown' labelling to packs of beansprouts in the wake of the German E.coli outbreak.
The label which reads 'beansprouts grown in the UK' has been added to packs of Sainsbury's own-label beansprouts and stir-fry mixes that contain bean sprouts. There are also barker signs on the fixture itself, highlighting the sprouts' provenance.
Sainsbury's said it sourced bean sprouts only from British growers and had used the label to "communicate this message to our customers".
