It has extended the scheme across all UK organic produce and some imports following the success of a 10-month trial on organic potatoes.
Other fresh organic products including meat and dairy will be added in the future.
Farmers taking part provide an overview of their operation including rotation cycles, reasons for organic growing or conversion, the benefits of bio-diversity and how they encourage it on their farm.
Organic produce buyer Anome Oyetey, said: "The scheme reinforces Sainsbury's commitment to organic integrity and is another way in which we are working closely with suppliers and farmers to increase consumer confidence and understanding of the organic food chain."
Customers log on to website www.sainsburys.co.uk/organics, where they enter a five-digit number printed on the packaging of the product.
That throws up pictures of and information about the farm on which it was grown.
The scheme includes all Sainsbury's own label British organic fruit and veg and a range from around the world.
