Sainsbury’s launched its mobile network this week promising a “competitive” pricing plan with bundles costing between £10 and £20.
Mobile by Sainsbury’s, launched in partnership with Vodafone, offers three pay-as-you-go price plans:
- 200 minutes a month, unlimited texts and 250MB of data priced at £10;
- 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data priced at £15;
- 800 minutes with unlimited texts and 1GB of data priced at £20.
It will also offer a basic price plan with calls at 8p per minute, texts at 4p and 25MB of data for 50p per day.
Sainsbury’s SIM cards will also be available in 1,000 stores. A range of handsets are also being sold in 250 stores, including the Nokia 100 handset for £12 and Samsung Galaxy Fame Android for £115.
“We know that many customers find choosing a mobile phone network a bit stressful, so we’ve opted to not only keep our price plans as affordable as possible – we’ve also made it incredibly simple,” said Mobile by Sainsbury’s marketing director Emma McLaughlin.
“With our pay-as-you-go service, customers know exactly what they’re getting and how much they’re spending.”
As part of the package, Sainsbury’s said customers will have the chance to earn double Nectar points when they buy a bundle.
