Sainsbury’s has introduced two new food-to-go counters across five stores in partnership with the Restaurant Group.
The supermarket has installed the health-driven Grains & Greens concession at Merton, South West London, Heyford Hill, Oxford and Springfield, Essex stores.
The Middle Eastern-inspired Mezze Box concession, meanwhile, was introduced at its Richmond, South West London and Walton-On-Thames branches, with another counter due to open at its Clapham Common, South London store by the end of March.
Grains & Greens is primarily a salad bar offering healthy and fresh food-to-go SKUs such as salads, soups, hot dahls, wraps, hot chillis and build-your-own salad boxes, alongside more substantial meals to takeaway. Products include Thai Green Curry Pot; Vegan Dahl; Egg, Spinach & Quinoa Pot and Cajun Chicken Wrap.
Mezze Box stocks pitta and dip selections, hot tagines, hot wraps, salads and mezze boxes, with lines including Salad Base Mezze Falafel; Chicken Shawarma Wrap; Hummus & Pitta Bread and Vegan Tagine.

Both concessions offer customisable options, and prices range from £1.50 for snacking pots to between £5 and £7 for main meals.
Sainsbury’s said all the counters have been implemented on a trial basis.
“We’re always trialling different in-store and counter services to ensure we are offering customers new, exciting and on-trend cuisines with easy meal solutions,” a Sainsbury’s spokeswoman told The Grocer. “We’re excited to offer our customers authentic Middle Eastern meals from our Mezze Box counters and fresh salads and wraps from our Grains & Greens counters.”
