Sainsbury’s has reshuffled its senior management team, with new roles for Roger Burnley, Helen Buck and Simon Twigger.

Burnley moves from retail and logistics director to a new role as MD of general merchandise, clothing and logistics. Following the appointment he will lead the non-food business but remain responsible for logistics.

Former convenience director Buck takes on the role of retail director, responsible for the company’s supermarket estate. Twigger, formerly fresh and frozen business unit director, becomes convenience business unit director.

All three take up their new roles on 19 March.

“We’ve got a great internal talent pool with the skill, dedication and drive to succeed in these roles,” said chief executive Justin King. “We are delighted to be able to develop our people in this way, as new perspectives and fresh ideas will drive sales and deliver the very best for our customers.”

Meanwhile, Charlotte Rhodes and James Bailey become business unit directors for fresh foods. Rhodes will be responsible for produce, bakery, meat, fish and counters, with Bailey taking charge of regional, dairy, frozen and meal solutions.

Kevin Barrett becomes director of space and formats. Dave King moves to lead Sainsbury’s team in China, replaced by Richard Fleming as logistics director.
