Sainsbury’s is to hold a family festival in London this summer to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The Jubilee Family Festival, which will take place in Hyde Park over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, will feature live music and entertainment and culminate in a 70-minute live show by Disney. Some 35 branded suppliers will also be represented at the festival.
It is the third festival the retailer has held. It ran a ‘Pandamonium in the Park’ event last summer to celebrate the launch of Kung Fu Panda 2, and held a concert to raise awareness of the Paralympics in September.
“We are delighted to stage this wonderful festival, which will reflect many elements of the Queen’s 60 glorious years as monarch and head of the Commonwealth,” said Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King.
“We aim to provide a fun-filled, family-focused festival, in one of London’s most beautiful and iconic Royal Parks.”
It is the third Jubilee event Sainsbury’s has linked up with. Last month, the retailer was revealed as the first corporate sponsor for the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. It is also the lead corporate sponsor for the Woodland Trust Jubilee Woods Project, which is aiming to plant six million British trees in 2012.
