Sainsbury’s has rigged up webcams at the construction site of a new store in Carlisle so that local residents can keep up with its progress.
Work started on the 60,000 sq ft store last month and is expected to be completed by the autumn.
The retailer has installed two webcams that are beaming a live feed 24 hours a day to a website set up especially for the £40m project, which Sainsbury’s said was to keep residents “as informed as possible”.
The new store, which is expected to create up to 450 jobs in the area, will also incorporate state-of-the-art green technology, including waterless urinals, rainwater harvesting for flushing toilets, and motion sensitive lighting.
