Japanese food brand Saitaku has made its UK debut this week with a rollout through Ocado.
The retailer is listing 13 products - including a sushi kit, sushi rolling mat and miso soup - with four more set to join the line-up over the next few weeks. Although this is the first time Saitaku lines have appeared in the UK, the company said it was enjoying strong sales in Europe since launching on the Continent four years ago.
“Sushi is a growing market,” added Saitaku co-owner David Binns. “In the past five years, UK supermarkets have reported an increase in sales of takeaway sushi.”
This May, Tiger Tiger launched a Japanese food range into Tesco and Asda stores.
