Marques de Monistrol has sealed a new UK supermarket listing with its latest launch, the Grand Tradicion Vintage Cava Rose 2005.
The Spanish sparkling wine will be stocked in 330 Co-op stores from the end of March, retailing at £7.99.
The 126-year-old brand has grown 43% in the past year, after securing new listings with chains including Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's.
It claims to have benefited from a growing tendency among cash-strapped consumers to ditch Champagne for sparkling wines, a sector dominated by Spanish Cavas that comprise more than 50% of the market. At Christmas the major chains reported sales of Cava up 20-fold year-on-year as shoppers tightened their belts, according to the company.
Marques de Monistrol is planning consumer marketing to support the new wine and the brand, which will include on-pack promotions and a competition offering consumers the opportunity to win a luxury weekend break in Spain.
