Half of all soups contain more than the recommended 0.6g of salt per 100g, according to Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH).
A survey of 576 varieties of soup by CASH found the average salt content per serving was 1.6g, while one in five soups contained more than 2g of salt per serving.
