A former Diageo innovation director is hoping to lift people out of their new year gloom with a new Brazilian tipple.
Salto, a citrus-flavoured cachaça (rsp: £10.95), has been available in selected specialist drinks outlets since last month and is now set to boost off-trade distribution further via its sponsorship of a fundraising event in London next month coinciding with the Rio carnival.
Founder and ex-Diageo innovator Steve Drawbell said the event would raise the brand's profile in the industry while Salto's mid-strength abv would appeal to consumers.
"People are mainly aware of cachaça through caipirinha cocktails, which has kind of limited the spirit," he said. "Salto is more flexible and works well with mixers such as lemonade."
