The company behind a new wine-based sparkling drink is hoping to appeal to the Pimm's crowd this summer.
Sangrino is a sangria-like drink, made with red wine, orange juice and spices. It is being launched exclusively in the off-trade in 75cl bottles, rsp £3.39 to £3.49.
The maker of the drink, Serve Chilled, is positioning it as a long aperitif, served over ice with a slice of orange, and is targeting summer barbecue and picnic occasions to capitalise on the growth of the 'Big Night In' market.
"This is a lighter alternative to wine at only 5.3% abv and is made from all natural ingredients," said managing director Nico Nicholas. "It is a perfect summer long drink and a great alternative to Pimm's when served over ice with a slice of orange."
In support of the launch, each consumer who buys a bottle of Sangrino can download an album of summer sounds. "Sangrino offers retailers excellent margins and is something new and exciting for consumers looking for a different drink," said Nicholas.
