Coca-Cola Europacific Partners is extending its Schweppes tonic water line-up and adding a new “premium” format to the range.
Classic Indian Tonic, Slimline Tonic and Slimline Elderflower Tonic will roll out in 600ml glass bottles from March.
The glass bottles would provide “an opportunity to trade shoppers up to a more premium option for special occasions”, said CCEP.
They tested particularly well with younger adult consumers, who thought they looked “more premium and modern”, it added.
It is also adding a grapefruit-flavoured tonic to its Slimline range.
Billed as “a refreshingly dry and crisp tonic with a deep citrus taste”, the drink will roll out from the beginning of March in one-litre PET bottles.
It was inspired by “the growing trend amongst bars to garnish drinks with grapefruit, as an alternative to lemons or oranges”, said CCEP.
The new launches were designed “to maintain momentum behind the brand in 2022, by tapping into demand for flavoured tonics” and “enhancing mixed drink occasions in the home”, it added.
It comes as the price of Schweppes – as well as its close rival Fever-Tree – has risen in the mults over recent weeks.
Earlier this month, a spokeswoman for the soft drinks giant told The Grocer it had raised prices following “significantly increased costs in haulage, packaging, ingredients and utilities”.
