Oddbins has created a series of malt whiskies to highlight Scotland's lesser-known distilleries and to offer lower price points for single-cask releases. Each edition of Against the Grain, starting with one from the Glencadam distillery, will be taken from a single cask to give a snapshot of the chosen distillery. The range's second edition will be launched in June.
The first edition - comprising 232 bottles distilled on June 20, 1987 - is priced at £29.99 for a 70cl bottle. The Glencadam distillery uses extremely soft water from Loch Lee to produce a creamy malt. The first edition, from Cask 1539, is described as a mellow malt with tangerine, clove spice, honey and smoke.
