Scotmid has unveiled a new in-store food-to-go concept called The Kitchen at its store in Ratho Station.
The Kitchen occupies about 270 sq ft and features premium products such as eight different varieties of soup, with three available at any one time, hot rolls and baked potatoes with about 35 different fillings, plus condiments, made-to-order and grab & go sandwiches.
Breakfast options include Bacon and haggis rolls, sausage rolls, croissants, porridge and single-serve portions of fruit. The concept will also be introduced at its Kingsknowe store on 16 February, followed by Carrick Knowe on 9 March.
“Potentially, every store could take the full offer,” said Scotmid bakery and local sourcing manager Stephen Brown. “In America every c-store has a food-to-go-offer. We need to understand what good service means to us and our customers, and then potentially we could roll it out very quickly.”
