Scottish Courage has axed McEwan's SPA after only 18 months on the market.
The brand was designed to put some life in the Scottish beer market and was a combination of ale and lager styles.
It was backed by a £2m budget but failed to capture the imagination of Scottish consumers.
Demand has been falling for the draught on-trade version and in the take home market the brewer has been gradually replacing it with John Smith's and Theakstons.
The brand is an offshoot of McEwan's which continues to be Scotland's leading ale.
