Safeway commercial director Nick Scrase has left the multiple to join Dutch grower-owner produce group The Greenery.
Scrase has been appointed managing director of its UK operations, based in Thrapston, Northamptonshire.
He has been a driving force behind Safeway's produce and logistics transformation during the past five years and worked on the multiple's aim to be Best in Fresh.
Bart-Jan Constandse, CEO of The Greenery in the Netherlands, said the company would benefit from the retail expertise and know-how of Scrase.
The Greenery revealed that Scrase would take up his new position in November, supported by acting MD Richard van der Hart.
