AF Blakemore has bought a second foodservice depot as part of plans to double the size of its foodservice business.
The 80,000 sq ft depot in Oulton, Leeds, is being renovated to give it a multi-temperature storage capability and is set to be operational by the summer.
Blakemore Food Service, an arm of AF Blakemore & Son, currently has a 68,000 sq ft depot in Darlaston, so the new site will more than double its capacity.
"The site is a really good fit in terms of size, structure and location," said Sam Wilcox, MD of Blakemore Wholesale. "We think foodservice has a very good future and we believe we are one of the best operators in the sector and this demonstrates how we are committed to long term growth."
Blakemore Food Service claims to be the UK's fourth-biggest foodservice provider. Its customers include Marston's pubs and several local authorities.
