It will be comparing prices on up to three branded lines stocked at Aldi per promotional period

Select & Save is launching an Aldi Price Match next year as it looks to ramp up its proposition to independent retailers.

The symbol group, which recently underwent a rebrand, will be comparing prices on up to three branded lines stocked at Aldi per four-week promotional period. The deals will span all categories as the initiative rolls out in 2025, it added.

“The consumers we serve need to know we’re competitive, and retailers must have an edge with a retail-focused approach – not just wholesaler-driven promotions that serve their own interests,” said Select & Save MD Kam Sanghera.

It is also setting up a 5% wastage allowance on retailers’ weekly chilled spend from January 2025. This means if a retailer spends £1,000, for example, Select & Save will contribute £50 towards their wastage for 16 weeks to help grow their chilled business.

This is in addition to its “already generous” rebate structure, which offers up to 5.5% on purchases, excluding tobacco.

Select & Save sales manager Barry Coleman said: “As retailers continue to look at a good chilled offering for their customers, the Select & Save team will be working with the retailers on a personal level, offering the best service around, to ensure they stock an agreed range of chilled products.

”In return, we will cover 5% of the weekly chilled spend total, and will support this for up to 16 weeks, as we help this category grow.”

The new offerings come as Select & Save revealed it overhauled its brand last month, with the symbol group starting to roll out a new fascia, store design, and manager support service across its estate.

The business said it had been working on a new identity over the past year to distinguish itself from an “increasingly bland and static market”.

The symbol group supplies 127 independents and one company-owned store.
