Selfridges is giving up and coming food brands a residency opportunity in a new pop-up kitchen at its flagship store in Oxford Street.
The high-end retailer said it has introduced the space in its Food Hall to showcase talent in the food industry.
The first food vendor taking part is Venezuelan street food brand Pabellón, which began its three-month residency on 12 March. Pabellón will serve dishes such as Venezuelan rice bowls with beef, chicken or a vegan variant made with black beans and plantains (£11.50), handmade grilled corn bread with side of batter sweet potato fries (£11.50) and sweet potato tempura (£5).
Selfridges would not reveal what other food vendors will take part through the year but confirmed the length of their residency will vary.
The pop-up kitchen will operate as a takeaway service initially, in line with current coronavirus restrictions and all dishes will be served in sustainable packaging.
“We’re very excited to be launching our new dedicated pop-up site in the Food Hall. The space has been designed to be a launch pad for new brands as well as a destination for the capital’s best street food and exciting chef collaborations,” said Andrew Bird, head of food at Selfridges. “We look forward to welcoming visitors to discover something new and delicious.”
