Selfridges is launching its first-ever festive open-air market behind its Oxford Street flagship store following the success its summer version.
Market on the Mews will sell a selection of food and drink, plants, homeware and gifts.
It will feature nine food and drink trucks such as traditional German currywurst, bratwurst and vegan sausages from Pop Dogs Official, a fully stocked bar curated by Field Vision, fresh pasta made in a 40kg wheel of grana padano by Cheese Wheel, marinated meat and burgers from Tramshed Project and Italian Christmas sweet treats by Sicilian Goods. These come alongside festive food and confectionery from Selfridges’ own label and branded ranges, such as gingerbread, stollen and panettone.
There will also be live entertainment and activities for adults and children.
It will be open everyday throughout December. Stalls begin trading on 2 December in tandem with the Oxford Street store reopening following England’s month-long lockdown coming to an end. Only its flagship’s food hall remained open during the period.
The lineup has been formed in partnership with Dominic Cools Lartigue, founder of Street Feast, which owns street food and market venues such as Dinearama and Model Market in London.
“We’re very excited to welcome customers back into our London store with the addition of our brilliant new Christmas market – a destination for visitors to become immersed in the joy of Christmas,” said Meave Wall, store director at Selfridges.
“We’ve brought together some of the best food traders in London, alongside fairground rides and stalls with gifts from independent British brands for those wishing to do some Christmas shopping. The open-air environment not only means everyone can wrap up and enjoy warming hot chocolates and the festive lights, but it’s a convenient way for Londoners and any visitors to the capital to enjoy the festivities and create magical new memories.”
