Walkers is adding peanuts to its Sensations portfolio as part of a long-term strategy for the brand.
The three Nut Cluster varieties - Chilli Spice, Sour Cream and Onion and Cool Tomato Salsa - come in pots and will be on shelf from September for 16 weeks at an rsp of £2.99.
The bagged snacks giant claimed the Sensations brand was worth £71m. It has already expanded the crisps range with the introduction of tomato and red pepper flavour as well as three oriental cracker varieties in the past two months.
Trade marketing manager Nicky Seal said Walkers had chosen to aim the three nut variants at Christmas because 41% of all nuts sold left shelves in the last three months of the year, with 22% going in the final four weeks.
The nuts market is dominated by KP and was worth around £150m last year, with growth driven by mixes and new flavours.
