Toiletries wholesaler Sert-MST has predicted turnover growth of £85m over the next 18 months as it moves into licensed goods.
The wholesaler has secured the toiletries licences on eight brands including Bob The Builder, Transformers, Noddy, Care Bears and Horrid Henry.
"Licensing is a major growth area, offering huge potential for our business," said MD Sabir Tayub.
Sert-MST is developing a range of shampoos, shower gels, bubble bath and wipes. Manufacturing has started in China and the products could be on sale as soon as March, said brand development manager Jag Singh. The company is also in advanced discussions for the Britain's Next Top Model licence and plans a range of body lotions and make-up for teenagers. It has also developed pet products under Garfield and Snoopy licences.
"Our licensed offering will offer retailers safe and secure regular incremental sales as well as volume spikes linked to mass awareness activity such as movie releases," said Singh.
"When the Transformers movie is released in July, there will be a three-month window of mass awareness for that brand. Our products will offer retailers a chance to grow incremental toiletries sales."
Sert-MST was formed when SERT purchased M&S Toiletries from Scotmid in 2008. Last June, it moved to a £12m, 285,000 sq ft warehouse in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, having previously operated from the two companies' respective sites in Nottingham and Wakefield.
It reported a turnover of £115.9m in the year to 31 March 2010 in its latest set of accounts.
