An Irish crisp producer is making its UK debut with a range that includes shamrock-flavour crisps.

Potato grower Keogh’s, which sells a four-strong range of handmade premium crisps, has set its sights on the UK following strong sales in its homeland and expansion into America in its first year of trading.

The crisps are manufactured at the Keogh family farm in County Dublin, where the potatoes are grown.

Keogh’s was the only business in the world to grow, cook and sell fresh potatoes and potato crisps under the same brand, claimed director Tom Keogh.

”Retailers love the fact they can get potatoes and a crisp brand made under the same roof,” he added.

The crisp brand made its debut in Ireland at the end of 2011 in Superquinn and later rolled out to Tesco in Ireland, followed by US chains Dean & Deluca and Fairway.

More than one million units had been sold since launch, said Keogh, who estimated that sales would double this year.

From next week, the brand will be making its first foray into the UK with a rollout across the Tesco estate and into Selfridges in time for St Patrick’s Day on 17 March.

The range includes Shamrock & Sour Cream - which Keogh’s claim is the first ever shamrock-flavoured crisp - as well as Dubliner Irish Cheese & Onion, Atlantic Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar and Roast Beef & Irish Stout (all rsp: £1.99/125g and 89p/50g).

These will be joined on shelf by a seasonal Roast Turkey & Secret Stuffing for Christmas.
